SZOKZ FAQ: Sizing, Compression, Care & Delivery

Frequently asked questions

Specifications, sizing, care, delivery and returns. If your question is not here, email us and we will answer it.

What are SZOKZ socks made of?

SZOKZ Core Series is 65% nylon, 15% polyester and 20% spandex, with no cotton. Nylon gives abrasion resistance, polyester is hydrophobic so it moves sweat rather than absorbing it, and the high spandex share delivers the compression and stops the sock bagging out. Most sport sock brands do not publish their composition at all.

How much compression do SZOKZ socks have?

SZOKZ Core Series is built at 20–30 mmHg through a targeted mid-foot wrap. Compression is measured in millimetres of mercury: 8–15 mmHg is light, 15–20 mmHg is moderate and covers most sportswear, and 20–30 mmHg is the firm band used for sustained load and recovery. If a brand says “compression” without a number, no measurable claim is being made.

Will the compression feel too tight?

They will feel noticeably firmer than an ordinary sock, and that is intentional — the mid-foot wrap is what stabilises the arch. The compression is targeted through the arch rather than uniform, and the top flap is non-binding so it does not dig in at the calf. If you have a circulatory condition or diabetes, check with your GP before wearing firm compression.

Do SZOKZ socks have grip on the bottom?

Yes. The grip-zone knit creates targeted traction at the ball and heel of your foot — the two areas that actually slip — rather than covering the whole sole. That keeps the midfoot free to flex and means the sock dries faster than a full-sole grip pattern.

Do they really stop your foot slipping inside your shoe?

Yes, and it is the feedback we hear most from new customers. In an ordinary sock your foot moves inside the sock and the sock moves inside the shoe. The grip zones remove the second movement, so force transfers straight into the shoe. The effect is most obvious in sports with hard changes of direction, and in fixed-foot sports like rowing and cycling.

Do SZOKZ socks prevent blisters?

They remove one of the two causes. Blisters come from friction plus moisture — the grip zones eliminate the sliding friction, and the hydrophobic fibres and ventilation channels handle the moisture. Together that covers both, which is why we build grip and moisture management into the same sock rather than treating them separately.

Are SZOKZ left and right specific?

Yes. Each pair has an ergonomic left-right anatomical fit, so the cushioning and grip zones sit where that specific foot loads rather than being mirrored. Check the marking before you put them on — wearing them on the wrong feet puts the grip in the wrong place.

What sports are SZOKZ designed for?

SZOKZ were originally engineered for rowing, specifically for footplate grip and recovery. Today they are worn for running, cycling, football, gym and lifting, tennis, CrossFit and cricket. The grip-zone construction and arch compression carry across all of them, and we make sport-specific ranges — Traction for gym, Summit for hiking, Core and Swift for athletics.

What size SZOKZ should I buy?

Measure from your heel to your longest toe. S fits UK 3–5, M fits UK 6–8, L fits UK 9–11 and XL fits UK 12–14.

What if I am between sizes?

Size up for a relaxed fit, or stay true to size for a performance fit. If you want the compression and grip working as designed, stay true to size — a loose grip sock slides inside the shoe and cancels out the point of it.

How do I wash SZOKZ socks?

Machine wash at 30°C, inside out, to protect the grip zones and the colour. Do not tumble dry and do not iron — heat is what destroys silicone grip. Air dry flat. Washed this way they last considerably longer than the 10–15 washes people report when they tumble dry grip socks.

How long does the grip last?

Heat is the limiting factor, not wear. Washed at 30°C and air dried, the grip zones outlast normal use by a wide margin; tumble drying degrades them within a fraction of that. The reinforced heel and toe construction is what determines how long the sock itself survives.

How much is delivery?

UK delivery is free on orders over £30. Below that, standard delivery is charged at checkout.

When will my order arrive?

UK orders are dispatched within 1 business day and standard delivery takes 2–3 business days. You will get a tracking link as soon as your order ships.

What is your returns policy?

30 days, money back, no questions asked. If they are not right for you, return them for a full refund. We would rather you tested them properly than kept a pair you do not wear.

How does the SZOKZ subscription work?

Choose 4 or 6 pairs and we deliver them every 3 months at our lowest per-pair price. You can skip a delivery or cancel in one click, with no fees and no minimum commitment. Your first order ships within 1 business day like any other.

Can I cancel my subscription?

Yes, in one click, at any time, with no fee. You can also skip an individual delivery or change how often it arrives without cancelling.

Why are SZOKZ cheaper when you buy more?

A single pair is £7.99. In a 6-pack the price drops to £5 a pair because the packing and shipping cost is spread across the order rather than repeated on each one. Most athletes end up rotating several pairs a week anyway, so the multi-pack matches how the socks actually get used.
